Department of Planning and Applied Statistics
The Department of Planning and Applied Statistics (DPAS) is one of the three Departments that were under the former Institute of Statistics and Applied Economics (ISAE), now changed to the School of Statistics and Planning in the College of Business and Management Sciences. The college was a merger between the former Faculty of Economics and Management (FEMA) and the ISAE following the Makerere University Council policy (1998).
Core Activities of the Department
The core activities of the DPAS are teaching, research and community engagement. First, the DPAS focuses on training the next generation of leaders and to generate and share knowledge in the field of Quantitative Economics, Business Statistics in Uganda in particular, Africa and the globe in general.
The training component is achieved through two academic programmes and short courses. The academic programmes include:
Bachelor of Science in Quantitative Economics;
Bachelors of Business Statistics,
Master of Science in Quantitative Economics;
